Digital Accessibility

Denver Public Schools is committed to providing equitable access to our web content for individuals with disabilities in accordance with Sections 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended. The District has begun a project to ensure that all digital services and content are accessible to all, in our effort to be in compliance with Colorado's House Bill ("Bill") 21-1110, also known as Colorado Laws For Persons With Disabilities. This law has strengthened state discrimination laws for individuals with disabilities to ensure that all individuals have access to digital content created by local government entities, including websites, applications, documents, and more. Per the Bill, the district must comply with the most recent web content accessibility guidelines promulgated and published. The adopted standard for accessibility is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 AA (WCAG 2.2 AA Guidelines).

Section 504 protects qualified individuals from discrimination based on their disability and forbids organizations and employers from excluding or denying individuals with disabilities an equal opportunity to receive program benefits and services. Section 508 requires federally funded programs to provide accommodations for people with disabilities. To meet this commitment, we are consistently auditing our web pages to meet or exceed these standards. Our team is dedicated to creating digital experiences that are accessible to everyone, regardless of ability, going forward. We are committed to empowering people with disabilities by making our content seamless and easy to navigate.
